Intergenerational Community Means Life (13" × 19")
Poster art developed shortly after the 2021 Trans Day of Visibility (TDoV, happens every March 31, since 2009). The day is dedicated to raise awareness of the systemic discriminations and oppression that trans people experience around the world, and to lift up our visibility among the rest of our societies. We also celebrate the many contributions of trans people to the arts, science, culture, and critical thinking.
Just think, trans people are almost never born into families with other trans adults, and as such, our intergenerational knowledge has to be found as we grow up and discover ourselves. Life knowledge has been shared via writing, zines, old internet bulletin boards, spoken word, the arts, and even by trans academics and journalists pushing for our right to exist, and to live whole lives, with people we love and are loved by. Part of that voice includes the need for rage amongst our love, in response to the losses among trans youth, and the lost "elders" of many commuities from violence and sickness.
As a trans artist who is older, I hope to see my artwork used to build and grow intergenerational trans communities wherever we live and bloom.
Available as Large Vertical Poster (13 × 19 in) printed on gloss cover stock.
